It’s One Thimble time- wahoo!!! Best time of the year, amiright?!!

I love to join in the One Thimble blog tours and this time I’m excited to bring you a full review of the magazine.  Not only is it packed full of gorgeous patterns for the whole family but it’s also a great resource for any sewist.  The articles this month are so informative and the pictures are pure eye candy.  I learned a couple new tips and tricks including how to fabric cover my KAM snaps that I obsessively add to everything!

The first pattern I sewed up is the lovely Trillium Tunic from Petite Stitchery.  It’s full of options- tunic or maxi dress lengths, three sleeve choices and a plain or pieced bodice.

I love the little details with this top.  The ruched 3/4 sleeve, the slightly gathered tunic skirt, the button placket, and pieced bodice all make for a beautiful shirt.

trillium5

I used a rayon challis I picked up in LA for the main and some Art Gallery denim and a bit of lace.  The bodice is the perfect place to use those scraps you’ve been hoarding!

trillium2

The subtle high-low hem is just too pretty!

The Trillium is such a classic Sophie top and little sis looks totally cool in her Thread Faction #113 overalls.

Glancing through the magazine I loved the look of this pattern but wasn’t sure it would suit my kids.  I was tempted to make them for my little guy until I had a vision for this look.  I knew it would be perfect for my fun-lovin’, comfort seeking girly.  She was overjoyed when she tried them on!

I used an incredibly soft french terry (from LA too) and some lace for the straps to girly it up a bit.  I’m on a camo kick lately and bought a boatload of this fabric so everyone in the fam may end up with a little bit in their wardrobes!

I love how quickly these came together.  I think they were done in under an hour from printing to sewing on the buttons- including the ridiculous amount of time it took to pick buttons!

I love that it’s a fun unisex pattern and comes in sizes 2-10.  I think a little toddler belly would be adorable in these!

  1. Love both these looks so much- perfect use of fabric and trims. I can’t wait to see your covered snaps. Once you start, you will be covering ALL the snaps! Haha
